Tsutsui walks him to the edge of the forest. His hand is drawn again to Kaga’s face; his thumb has traced those cheekbones so many times. Tsutsui indulges once more, and Kaga leans into the touch.

Tsutsui steps back, his sad determination reflecting Kaga’s when he reaches into his pouch. Dipping two fingers in the reddish-brown clay, Tsutsui traces protecting runes on Kaga’s bare torso, humming incantations known only to his people.

He steps back. Kaga walks past him, his long body deliberately brushing Tsutsui’s leaner frame. Tsutsui watches him walk away, waits until the last echo of his hooves is lost before he retreats to the heart of the forest.

I kind of thought about you when typing this, because of course there's a bigger chance you'd know a German show. I have no idea whether I should encourage you to watch more of it, since I've found that the source material being good has nothing to do with how much invested I might become in a show/fandom. Then again, you can certainly watch a couple more episodes and decide for yourself and become a devoted Mick/Andreas shipper?

I give German books their chance! Well, I certainly don't remember deciding not to read a book because it was translated from German. And I ♥ Andreas Eschbach, and rec him whenever I get the opportunity.
