I love when John said that he had obvious reason to staying and he was loyal, but Sherlock didn't get it or he wanted to be sure as the reason why John was stayin?
YAY!! The ending fit the story. John's grim, unbending benevolence = unstoppable force. Sherlock's refusal to be pitied = immovable object. Add them together and the word "tit" gets shouted a lot, everything else doesn't get said at all, and we reach the point of healing. Sherlock cannot thank John for staying, so John turns the usual formation around, and Sherlock is able to say that he is welcome. Welcome. How lovely

A great story. I liked the characters shown. The part about Brian, and how John insists on treating all dead with respect - that was very moving.
Just one little thing: compared to your other stories, the ending here...doesn't feel quite finished? Maybe it's all the mentions of new plans and beginnings, from Mike and Molly leaving in search of a better place to Bill and John staying. It feels more like the ending of a book in a series - so there is a sense of finality, but it does seem like the author's introducing the next part of the story at the same time. Of course, if you intend to make this into a series I will just go and shut up now...
