John has such a good head on his shoulders. Though he is far from forgiving Sherlock he at least is trying to understand. It feels like he still cares for Sherlock but doesn't understand that the feeling is reciprocated. Though that would be partly Sherlocks fault too. You are so good at conveying their feelings and tension building. If they ever reconcile it will be that much more beautiful, just as if things don't work out it will be doubly heart breaking! Thank you. :)

Thanks!

Pretty much this. There's also the distancing aspect of finding out Sherlock's the species John is duty-bound to kill. Sherlock ought to be a monster, so of course he's simply been using John - except John is simultaneously certain it was more than that. Generally confusing.

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm watching Sherlock in order to read your fics. (Normally, I'm all about the Doctor Who.)

You're that good.

Oh my gosh, another fill! Now that's out of the way. I've been lurking this story (lol) and I love it. So many feels for John and Sherlock. I am glad that Sherlock finally said something because John will have to have some epiphany telling him that Sherlock's a good guy (er vampire) and it's forever love. *puking rainbows* Seriously, I am loving this story. :)

I'm glad to hear exactly what's happened in layman's terms from Sherlock's lips. His situation feels even more complicated than I first thought...
Gads the tension between these two. Still caring about each other, but John doesn't know what to think about what Sherlock did and Sherlock is on such uncertain (but well-deserved) footing.
(Thanks for updating so fast.)

Thanks! It's just a lot complicated. I know that eight chapters in is a long while to wait for giving the backstory behind a character's primary motivation, but when it's this nuts, well, sticking it in earlier without having the action/tension of John in the scene with it seemed too dry to risk. And this way, these two actually have something to talk about beyond the basics of accusations of betrayal.

Ok, a lot complicated. It makes sense though, to only have him explain his primary motivation now. It wouldn't have made sense before - there have been allusions to it, but Sherlock's never needed to really explain it. (AKA, I agree with where the explanation ended up).
