I've found myself checking back here almost everyday waiting for an update and I can't wait for the last chapter!
This is brilliant! :)

Poor John. Poor Sherlock. I'm curious what alternative Sherlock's thoughts on the weird happenings, and Mycroft's POV too. I mean John couldn't have avoided all of them could he?
5/6 T^T Nooooooooooo. There must be a sequel or timestamps because no way is a story this good is ending so soon.
Looking forward to duhDuhda-duh. the End!

The first time Digital Sherlock sees John is at the circus when John tackles a swordsman for him. On that note, the first time Mycroft probably takes notice of him is when John accompanies Sherlock outside of the circus and entirely fails to chat him up. Then Mycroft - potentially - sees John pulling the fire alarm and responding to the emergency.
At present, that's the maximum amount of notice John has gathered from the Digital London Holmes brothers.

Maaaaaaaybe. No, you totally called it.

Not glass, but folded paper, tiny figurines to be unfolded and tucked away flat after admiring. To be studied in quiet moments, each crease and every fold, and wondered at, knowing their complex shapes to be forever lost. Not a black lotus heralding death, not a flower, nothing so delicate.
What even! You're incredible. And that calendar! My heart...
Now that the fangirling is over, if you ever want to chat with a bunch of other fic writers and fic lovers, there is an IRC chat over here. Mostly we just hang out, talk about life, about writing; there are recs zooming left, right, and sideways, and on special occasions we have beta parties in google docs. Do please stop by if this sounds at all interesting to you- we are very friendly, I promise.

Patently untrue. We both know my fics will kill you anyway - this one will simply burn the heart out of you.

Y'know, I nearly took that part out. Even as I wrote it, I was thinking "This is batshit. This is way too much. The John voice in my head is awkward because of the feeeeeelings." Fortunately, fogbutton put her foot down on that rather emphatically - to the point where she suggested "John Watson owns two watches.doc" be officially named something from that excerpt.
And that calendar! My heart...
Dude, I told you so.

It does sound interesting and very much like something I'll look into should I find a night where I don't have an exam or essay looming over my head. I'm a compulsive reader, so the recs would rather do me in at present, but thanks - I'll be around.

On the bright side, way to go fogbutton's feet. So thank you both for that.
Good luck with your schoolwork. About half of the chat is following this fic (including , ishmael, eightnoon, and sardine, all of whom I see have commented here), so we will be very glad to see you indeed. :)

I REGRET NOTHING.
You are an exquisite writer and amazing human being for writing and sharing this. I cannot get over how intricately plotted and gorgeously written this is. The scenes that slip between what we see in canon are lovely. Everything hurts. I desperately want to know what happens next at the same time I don't want this to end.
Oh John. This is so fucking heartbreaking. (That calendar!) I want so badly for him and Sherlock to be together and happy.

This entire story was like being handed a ready-made frame from which I could hang ornaments or wrap fairy lights. I hate rewriting scenes from the actual show - which made this chapter interesting - especially when there are so many little spaces to be filled up with everything else. Spaces that need to be. While we were working on this, my beta Vyc pointed out how insane it would be to go directly from John particularly furious in the morning to John praising over the body at the Thames. So there's basically prevention of emotional whiplash plus props management, such as John's gun the day of Joe Harrison's flat and the pool.
Everything hurts.
I feel you should know that this is the reaction I actively strive for. Just as a general warning for which it is already far too lateWe're currently fine-tuning part six and the epilogue. Two-ish weeks, maybe? Don't quote me on that, but definitely before ( ... )

Before Halloween? SUDDENLY MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!
I love how you don't rewrite the scenes from the show as that's been done so many times I am bored to death. And everything hurting is probably my favorite aspect of this fic. It's like the best punch to the gut that leaves me asking for more. (I am probably weird for this. OH WELL.)

You're talking to a martial artist who enjoys angst, pathos and being flipped onto wooden floors. I understand in so many ways.

Interesting idea.
“Once I kill you, he’ll never stop following me again.”
True, and terribly chilling.
Interesting and a bit sad that the place he feels least like himself is where he goes after the explosion.

Chelmsford, Essex has basically been the place he wakes up after trauma. Happened after he was shot and also after he was knocked out in Blind Banker.
Thanks!
