Sometimes, people tell me random things and then stories happen. Like that time a friend told me to write a Doctor Who stapler monster. Stuff like that

"Sherlock, your taxi is here."
"I didn't order a taxi!" his flatmate snaps. Is he his flatmate? John hasn't decided. At the very least, he hasn't said anything, regardless of what Sherlock's told Mrs. Hudson. He hasn't run like that in years, though, never thought he'd run again, but now John has his potential-landlady looking to him in distress.
"Dr. Watson, I-" she begins.
"I'll handle it," he says. He's good at handling things, less good about standing around in the middle of a drugs bust. Sherlock, a junkie, really? It makes as much sense as everything about him, but it's a surprise he didn't see coming.
He goes downstairs, leaving Sherlock to yell at Scotland Yard's finest (and less-than-finest, according to him). There's the cab, there's the cabbie, and John thinks ohThe cabbie's clothes are old, much like the cabbie. Neat in a limited way. His gaze is steady and calm, the sort of look John recognizes immediately. Most people think killers look vicious, deranged. Maybe some of them do, but not the ones like this, not the

This is going to sound very strange, but I'm now annoyed at myself for using the device, seeing as I just remembered that John yells out "I got the number [of the cab]!" earlier in the episode and would probably still remember it and thus recognize the man by his cab. He'd definitely put that together. Largely annoyed because that would have been more clever but also because I can't believe murderers are identifiable by sight.
Explanation of that last sentence because I know it sounds creepy: I had an excursion to a prison for a sociology class and we spoke with the best-behaved prisoners. The man who'd shot down 6 people in a premeditated attack (gang-related) was more gregarious and vibrant than the man who'd hit a girl with his car while drunk and run away from the scene of the accident. The difference between a murderer and a killer, essentially. The man who'd used the gun was the one who showed us into the room and I'd originally thought he was a worker, not a prisoner. Seriously, you can't tell.

In this fandom, I kinda feel like I have to? I mean, it is Sherlock Goddamn Holmes.
If I ever go over this, polish it up and post it as a full fic, I'll change that bit to be about the car number and also the cabbie texting John back. The only reason he got Sherlock's phone in the episode was because his number was on the website, but John's number would've been on the pink phone, which was what the cabbie used. Therefore, John gets down to the cab just as the cabbie's done texting, sees the pink phone and receives the text. And so, realization. Much more realistic.
Finished up the plotline now. Think it needs a coda?

The car pulls up to a stop in front of two buildings that look oddly familiar. It takes John a moment, but yes, this is the place one of his ex-girlfriend's taught at. He's not sure he remembers the name of it correctly, ought to check if he's going to call the police later

The cabbie shows him into an empty classroom. The tables are long, the chairs on one side. The sort of room two men could put on quite a chase in, but there's only one set of doors
