And frankly, they all join up 'round the back.*

Lately I've been trying to come up with a way to legitimately put as many crossovers into a single story line as possible. Why? It's cracktastic fun, that's why. It's also surprisingly easy, because every fandom has at least one convenient opening. Especially the supernatural ones ( Read more... )

tv: supernatural, writing, fandom: art, tv: dollhouse, tv: heroes, tv: human target, fandom: analysis, fandom: picspam, tv: angel, tv: btvs, actors: interviews, tv: ashes to ashes, tv: doctor who, tv: life on mars, fandom: crossover, actors: mike emerson, tv: lost

"...every fandom has at least one convenient opening."

Based on the fanfiction that I've seen, I believe that opening is called the ANUS. ;-)

sorry; I really couldn't resist. I'll try to behave next time.

Sample MultiFandom Crossover - 11 Fandoms
A string of unusual murders get Heroes' Matt Parkman involved (although The Company's already keeping tabs). Angel's Angel Investigations is chasing after rumours of disappearances and possession, with help from Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, and bump into Supernatural hunters doing pretty much the same. The multiple-homicide case is taken by Castle's homicide team (with help from the CSI team) until Bones's FBI Agent Booth gets a call from Dollhouse's ex-FBI Ballard over rogue-Doll Alpha suspsicions. Meanwhile Dollhouse's Senator (and Doll) Daniel Perrin requests Human Target assistance, but the anti-terrorist group of La Femme Nikita is also monitoring the situation, resulting in an epic hacker fight between Guerrero and Birkoff, which is spied on by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles John, keeping tabs on disturbing new technology which could lead to SkyNet.

I will pay you 10 € if you write that.

Oh, no need to bribe: this plotbunny's on my To-Do list. I just can't promise anything.

But bribing's so much fun! ;)

But, you know, you're so right about crossovers. For example, it's ridiculously easy to think of a way to pair, for example, Harry Potter and SPN. Do you know the Veil Of Possibilities AU? It's the veil that Sirius falls in in Order Of The Phoenix. The concept is, basically, that he travels between the parallel universes to get back home. So, imagine a desperate Sam, several weeks before Dean's deal comes due. Dean scared and uneasy, although still trying to play it off and distract Sam. With a hunt, for example. Let's say they're hunting - a werewolf, whatever. Let's say Padfoot is wandering the woods the night the boys are staking out the hunt. Let's say Sam and Dean mistake him for the threat and shoot at him and then find a pile of scraggly, sexy man instead of the bad guy. Let's say they take him back to the motel to patch him up and then get to talk and eventually learn about the veil. And - oh, the temptation! What a way to screw the deal over! Then: Sam convincing Dean (blackmailing, ( ... )

Hmm, will need to track down that AU, sounds brilliant!

Oh dear, I see you too have caught the crossoveritis disease! I would love to see the Winchester boys rant at Ten, for some reason. Or this! So much win!

And Good Omens/SPN has been done (Podfics), but the one fic I read (and cannot remember anything googley-helpful about) had no Castiel/Aziraphale-or-Crowley, which would rock my socks.

I'll add in that comic books have cosmic characters whose sole purpose in life/the plot is to teleport characters together to fight/get 'rescued from over-polluted Earth'/entertain them. Marvel in particular loves this trope, with The Collector, The Grandmaster *and* The Champion treating Earthlings like their action figures.
