I think you'd get through C&P much faster if you mised it with a little Pratchett ;) He does wonders for reading-induced depressions. (Granted, there's a high chance Pratchett also has drunkenness, poverty, and animal abuse - amongst other things, like scorpion pits and assasins as head-of-state - but it's funny!)
