I have a similar experience with shedding with our dogs. Allie is a short haired dachshund and she sheds WAY more than the long haired yorkie and pomeranian. Gidget (the pomeranian) is currently going through the "puppy uglies" where she is losing her puppy coat and waiting for her adult coat to grow in and she still doesn't shed as much as Allie!

I'm glad your new kitty is working out so well.
