hand-embossed leather iPad 2 smart covers punkassjim November 29 2011, 05:03:15 UTC
So I got it in my head to make this "Electric Library" smart cover, and it turns out I was able to make a number of them to sell. Here's how I made them, and here's the Etsy shop. I've got three brown ones for sale on Etsy right now, but I've got two black ones and a reddish-brown one that I'll list when I get a few minutes to spare. I've got enough materials to make 5 or 10 more of each, but I won't start on those until the ones I've got are sold.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks for letting us post here! Also, "local" for me is San Francisco/Oakland, CA.

Are you able to make a cover for a first generation Nook?

Sorry, the embossing plate is hand-carved, and it took me forever to do. Someday I might look into making some laser-cut embossing plates for smaller devices, but having them made is pretty expensive. I'd likely need to put it on Kickstarter or something. Thanks for the interest, though!
