I LAUGHED really hard, out loud, then... after following the link, perplexed that the recipes were not written with funny non-American notations in how to pronounce words the way a french person might, i became rather sad when i realized that accent doesn't mean the speaking term but the slight flavor notes.

BOOO-URNS.

that cookbook isn't as awesome as I thought.

Fiurst, you poot the buttar in ze cookein pan....

Just as an FYI, Hungarian Paprika has more flavor and a kick to it.

PS - that dish looks like it should be a So You Don't Have To post :)

This actually made me inspired to start collecting more "antique" cookbooks. I inherited a few and you are right, some of them are quite funny and disturbing snapshots of Americana.

It's kinda terrifying. Nadja is on a feed with old recipes--including ones found on cans and boxes of stuff--and one yesterday included something like a can of tomato soup, a cup of mayonnaise, a 1/4 cup of sweet relish, 1/4 tsp of chopped onions [REALLY?! You're gonna taste that?] and maybe butter and more horribleness. It sounded horrific.

And I thought some of my antique recipe book recipes sounded scary; that sounds so wrong.
