I'm glad you got it out of your system; after our brief exchange on the subject, and even moreso after reading the wikipedia entry on Magneto, I've come to agree with your assessment.

Also, I'm having less problems believing Magneto as a drug addict with impaired judgment. After so many attempts of trying and failing, finding something that makes his stunning powers near-godlike, it's easy to see how he'd just "go with it." And end up like any other meth junkie -- "it seemed like a good idea at the time.."
