Don't know about a "better way", but you might find a better bag,
here.
I would suggest a look at the messenger bags. The one I have has a special organizer pocket for small stuff (pens, keys, PDA, etc.), a mesh water-bottle pocket on the outside, a cell-phone holster on the shoulder strap, backpack style straps that stow away, and a carry handle at the top. It also has a zippered bellows extension for when you really need to stuff a lot in it. Got it at WalMart for twenty bucks.

Get one of those wheeled backpack things with the rigid pull-handle. Wear your dorkness with pride.

Amazing! I've lost 22lbs in the last 14 days. If I had a Bag O' Doom, then I wouldn't have any problems with those security booths with scales in them not think I was me anymore.

Indeed, if your weight is above or below a certain threshold, they don't believe it is you anymore. Which means you can't get in, or as the case was yesterday, get out after you take a leak and drop under that minimum weight.

It sure would be good to be able to eat again.
