Just once, when I'm awake at 4:30 a.m. in Chicago, I'd like to be hanging out on a porch or in an apartment with the windows open, drinking and listening to the birds wake up, instead of trying not to rouse the sleeping people in the house.

Sometimes insomnia is fabulous, other times it feels like a waste...

But at least you aren't alone. In WebWorld someone out there is always awake downloading porn with you.

So open up some windows and sit quietly in the breeze. Light a candle. Try to read by flashlight. Buy some Play-Doh to keep on hand for just such an occasion.

Oftentimes, when I can't sleep, I pretend I'm sleeping. I slow my breathing like I'm in slumber, close my eyes, and lie in a snuggy position. If I need to move, I move very slowly, as though there were someone else watching me and I want to convince this person I'm just scratching my nose in my sleep. Usually after a while, I really am asleep.

Yeah, the problem was that the house I'm in has two extremely light sleeper--Sara's mother and stepfather--and two very light sleeping weimereiners.

Sure, I pissed about on the interwebs for a while, but I didn't FEEL like being still. I felt like running through the city at 100 mph.

Normally I love my insomnia...

sTone, I tend to understand you all too well. Whenever I have insomnia, I don't WANT to lay down. I have about a millions things I wanna do, and generally can't do them, cuz I have to get up at 7:30 and why the fuck won't I fall asleep?

Sucks even more when you're at someone else's house. I mean, you can't even get up and clean your bathroom.

EXACTLY! When I can's sleep, I don't want to waste my life laying in bed trying to sleep.

But the house is too noisy and the inhabitants are too easily-awakened...
