Just once, when I'm awake at 4:30 a.m. in Chicago, I'd like to be hanging out on a porch or in an apartment with the windows open, drinking and listening to the birds wake up, instead of trying not to rouse the sleeping people in the house.
Sometimes insomnia is fabulous, other times it feels like a waste...

Oftentimes, when I can't sleep, I pretend I'm sleeping. I slow my breathing like I'm in slumber, close my eyes, and lie in a snuggy position. If I need to move, I move very slowly, as though there were someone else watching me and I want to convince this person I'm just scratching my nose in my sleep. Usually after a while, I really am asleep.

Sure, I pissed about on the interwebs for a while, but I didn't FEEL like being still. I felt like running through the city at 100 mph.
Normally I love my insomnia...

Sucks even more when you're at someone else's house. I mean, you can't even get up and clean your bathroom.

But the house is too noisy and the inhabitants are too easily-awakened...
