Oh crikey. Stephen KIng has nothing on this! It's - horrible! (In the nicest possible way!) It's so wierd and horrid and creepy and I do sometimes look in the mirror and wonder who that is? But to find it smiling when I am not.
Aaarrrggh and the ENDING! NO NO NOooooooo runs off to erm smell a flower or something. Good greef. Grim, ghouly.. Excellent. absolutely excellent. but please... no more! the way it crept up on you and then. HELP!!. Very Psycho.

Oh, The original was creepy, but yours really made my - not my back creep, but I just don't want to turn around somehow. Really - and the last lines about the shards on the floor. Oh God, the mirror image is FREE... HElllpp runs off stage... truly. scary.

Aw, thanks, Thora -- I felt immediately that slang_jockey's piece was the best one to fit remixing into my style, and I'm glad I managed to do justice to it, because the original was pretty eerie and -- if I'm not mistaken -- has been published already, yes? Or am I just making that up?

(Sort-of-newbie from the Flame here, by the way. I used to lurk there under a different LJ a couple of years ago.)

This is a truly eerie piece. Original, too, despite the remix - you've definitely put your own spin on it. The beings trapped inside the mirrors remind me of faeries or spirits, with millions of years' worth of dormant power waiting to be unleashed, that they could use for good or evil. They seem like very ambiguous creatures, and while reading it I was never sure what they'd do with the world after they were set free, if their intentions were benevolent or not. That is what makes this story so chilling.
Giving them an agenda and such a powerful (and understandable) reason to be so malevolent to the humans just adds a whole new level to the story.
