I really miss this part from the movies-- so much more is conveyed here in dialogue from the books.

Interesting how they took so many of Boromir's lines here and put them in the scene on Caradhras. But wherever they appear, they are chilling. 'So small a thing'? Hardly. It's so sad to see Boromir falling. :((((

A wonderful reading of this most fascinating scene. I am always struck with how carefully Tolkien shapes the failure of Boromir to resist the Ring. It is so clear to me that Boromir's war-shaped understanding of power, his desire to see Men prevail and Minas Tirith remain free is a huge part of why the Ring could wield its destructive magic on him.
