...that anyone reading this blog has a subscription to English Historical Review and would be willing to summarize a 2007 article for me?

(What is wrong with OUP online that their subscription service is not set up to take the very namesake payment method of their own payment-transaction hosts?)

UW's subscription allows "informal sharing" of the electronic version; since it's for research, I think I can send you a copy--let me know if you need one.

All I can get you online right now is the abstract: "The article investigates how Indian soldiers interpreted their encounters with British and French societies during World War I. Information was obtained from the soldiers' letters, which were read by British officers with the aim of deleting information that could be of military use to the enemy. It is stated that the Indian soldiers greatly admired certain aspects of the European culture and were awed by the wealth of many Europeans, and even aspired to emulate their education and industry."
