Okay, how many people would be interested in a couple of "Rough Guide" tutorials to Photoshoppery? where "Photoshoppery" is the generic idiom for "image-editing" - I ask this, because I started working on an explanation of Alpha Channels (and what a stupid name THAT is, if you ask me, which they didn't) for nenya and realized that it was a lot more ( Read more... )

I would love that, but I am so damn stupid that tech-instructions only get through my pea brain if they are sized to the intelligence of a long dead (and severely retarded) paramecium.

I've worked through (and taught) the Adobe Classroom-in-a-Book guide to Photoshop. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Photoshop.

I'd be interested in "What To Do When You Have To Scan Something Bigger Than Your Scanner And You Need It In A Half Hour" and any other techniques for coping with real-world conditions not covered in standard how-the-software-works guides.

Heck yeah! Thank you!

Especially WTDWYHTSSBTYS&YNIAHH. :D I hate realizing after the fact that I've drawn something way too big, and also hate having to use half of a lovely huge sheet of drawing paper because I know that if I draw the thing full-size it will never make it into the computer... Any help would be lovely.

And, also, alpha channels. :D That was a throwaway comment, thinking you'd know but wouldn't have time to explain, but if you can/will, then yay!

One picks up a certain amount by doing, but it's frustrating that most of the tutorials seem to need a) a dictionary of terms and b) a specific program, not to mention version, in order to be useful. Things like, "You can set the .jpg compression thing to 1 instead of .9 or whatever the default is, and that will make your pictures a whole lot less blurry and evil, and here is where you're likely to find it" are really really helpful.

I would. Have to make sure I still have Photoshop, though.
