I liked this, seeing the reactions to the weirdness that is the Winchesters. The story did a nice job of showing just how disturbing the Winchesters are from an outsider's viewpoint. It also reminded me of just how screwed up Sam was in season four. You did a nice job of keeping him both sympathetic and clearly going in a dangerous direction. Also, Tessa was a great choice for a viewpoint to frame the story--she has a big picture perspective without being completely detached.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun to work on (not just for Tessa's voice, natch), and I couldn't help but wonder if it came out the way I'd hoped. Glad to hear that things worked, for you.
I've only encountered the Bones crew in crossovers, but this. was. BRILLIANT. Everybody on the SPN side is perfectly in character, and I can just see it all playing out! LOVE the hell flea, too--nice touch. :D
If you get the chance, I do recommend checking out Bones -- at least the earlier stuff. They're starting to drag a bit by season 6, but seasons 2 and 3 especially are great fun.
Heee. Forgot how much I loved this. Like the new ending; it ties up the story well, and segues nicely back into both canons.
I think part of what makes it *work* is both all the science research you did to give it the Bones-style run-down of the investigation of the man in the shallow grave, and yeah, that you managed to go back and do the Season 4 SPN and end-of-Season-3 Bones voices so well. Any other point in either canon, and this whole affair would have gone *very* differently. But the emotional fallout from Zack's screw-ups was just as intense for the Bones crew as Dean's resurrection was for him and Sam.
Also, I just love Tessa and Death. But you know that. *applauds*
They ended up paralleling more than I necessarily thought, the emotional states of the Bones and SPN folks. Which is part of the joy of working in crossover form.
You were absolutely indispensable on this, I hope you know that!
This was fantastic. The characterizations and interactions were spot-on (being a fan of both shows), and you deftly handled all the medical lingo that goes along with their investigations. Definitely going to re-read this.
