DEAN IS HAVING A ROUGH TIME OF IT, HUH? It's funny, too, 'cause so many times in this ep they hinted at Dean pulling through in some way. That the torturing would bring something out of him. But instead he screwed that up (in his eyes, I mean) and just ended up more beat down than ever.

STEPHHHHHHHHHHH. I have not been able to stop thinking about this episode. This is the first one I've immediately rewatched since early in the season.

Bottom right. It actually hurts me in my SOUL a little to see him so dead in the eyes, so completely defeated.

Well, that and he's tired of Sam. He can't stop Sam. Can't even guide him. Can't protect him any more. Can't even get him to tell the truth. Can't connect with him. Can't leave him.

This, too. This hurts. This hurts more than the apocalypse and Dean's Very Special Destiny hurts. It's all push from Sam and no pull from Dean anymore, and it's painful to watch. But what is he going to do? He can't leave. OUCH, STEPH. OUCH.

i can't even fully comment on this picspam or this episode because i alternate between, "Dean! your FACE!!" to "OH, DEAN!!".

i have a feeling this finale is going to be even more heartbreaking than last season's.

Aww. SPN the little show that could!! I don't know what's wrong with me but I love Dean and Sam Pain!
Kick the Dean = WIN! More kicking so he can cry prettily.
Kick the Chloe = Bring. It. On. More kicking so she kinda dies. A little. :)

All he can do is go along for the ride because he's got nowhere else to be. He'll watch it all go to hell and find out if his guilty conscience has any room left for more.

I never thought of it that way, but you explained it perfectly! That's really a wonderful insight into Dean's head right now, I think!

Castiel is the ONLY person who still has faith in Dean, isn't he? That and some serious homoerotic subtext.

As irritating as the guilty!Dean thing gets sometimes, this final line broke me. Great way to end the ep!
