First off, I am putting together a costume review post (jumping on that bandwagon a little late) but am just gathering pictures and stuff, so hopefully I can get that done tonight

It sounds lovely. As long as the linen isn't too rough, I think it would look fine, that or a cotton print would be pretty. This site has tons of pictures and extent garments you can look at.
Thanks! That's a great site. The linen is very fine and drapey so I think it won't look to far off, but who knows how it will look after I wash it... :P I'd really like to do a cotton print, but I'm trying to be good and use the stash. That never lasts long though! :)
Was it common to have a light colored over gown and a darker petticoat? I just can't think of an example myself. I think the navy is dark enough that it should work though! :)
Thanks! They are both things I was planning on making anyway, so if they work together, great. If not, well, I can always buy more fabric, can't I? *evil grin*
Heh, did someone splurge at Sewfisticated? I saw that quilted fabric there, and I thought "someone should make a quilted petticoat out of that." The color wasn't me, but it will look great on you. Go for it, linen dress or not!
It was still there when I was visiting! I got a few yards of a cream colored, striped silk organza for a petticoat. I'm hoping to make a 1780s jacket out of some blue silk I have to go with it.

Anglaises are very common to wear with them, and I think it looks especially nice polinased up.
