I feel exactly the same way about April Fools Day. I hate it. LEAST FAVORITE "HOLIDAY" EVER. I spend most of the day watching people warily and just waiting for it to be over.

Thanks for the link; that's a fantastic piece.

Me too. It makes my heart hurt. I don't understand why it's funny that I want to believe that people I care about aren't lying to me (even when it's in honor of a "joke.").

You're welcome! They are both SUPERB poets and really fucking nice people. Harlym's got a CD for sale that is completely worth buying, as well.

a million years ago when i was in college, i signed up for it. it's a poetry email. during the year, they randomly send out poems, during april, it's a poem a day. (admittedly, of poets whose poetry you can buy from randomhouse/knopf...)

I did not! I really liked him and Harlym - they were my favorite part of the event (and there were some great poets there, including Iyeoka). Harlym gave me a huge hug after they performed because I cried so much during their pieces - which is a good thing. Poetry, unlike most other art forms, brings tears to my eyes when it hits me, even when it doesn't make me sad.

Yay! I'm glad that other people like the more-or-less poem a day thing!

Totally. It's kind of an amazing response, though, you know?

I like the thing that they point out - to spend so much time, to be so meticulous, must be a KIND of love. A destructive, unkind form of love but ... it's just so much energy.
