Thanks for posting! It keeps being discouraging no matter how often I see the movie cast. (AND ZUKO ISN'T EVEN HOT ANYMORE.)

...Yeah, I don't even watch the cartoon, and I knew this was some screwed-up casting when I first heard about it. The visual effects look impressive, but... WHY ARE PEOPLE BLONDE? WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE DARKER COMPLEXIONS???

Aaand Hollywood strikes again with the "DURR AMERICANS ARE TOO STUPID TO RELATE TO ANY CHARACTER THAT ISN'T WHITE" nonsense.

That's not the worst thing I could have said about this, it's just the only thing I could say without working myself into a frothing mass of vitriol.

I confess, I was going to give this movie a chance just for the special effects (which, you have to admit, look kind of cool in the trailers), but then both USA Today and The Washington Post gave it discouraging reviews. Apparently, the casting director's plans to cast a martial artist as Aang backfired; he/she forgot to make sure the boy could act.

Trust in Hollywood to take something really good and screw it up.
