Please don't lump Yuki's and Shogun together in one category. Shogun is like a bright circus and Yuki's is like a dimly-lit delicious dish.

Ah, but I'm not. Perhaps I should have been more specific.

Let me create a analogy here... Yuki's is to Charmin as Shogun is to toilet paper from the Dollar Tree. Yes, the lesser version will suffice, but I'd rather have the better.

knowing absolutely nothing about you, I can soundly recommend The Season of Passage by Christopher Pike. It's one of his five "adult" books, and it's got everything a book should ever have: vampires, spacemen, and a half-psychotic yet wholly kick-ass heroine.
