When I see a trailer for a movie that I have no intention of going to see in the theater, but there's *just* enough to catch my interest, I add it to my Netflix queue. By purchasing every copy of the book with an inscription and shelving it, she is, in a way, preventing others from possibly reconnecting with their own long lost copies. What if someone else is doing the same thing, and that person finds her lost copy? They purchase it and shelve it and oh dear! Now she'll never get her copy of Jane Eyre back! Oh cruel, cruel Fate!
In conclusion, by removing these items from circulation, she is actually being a self-absorbed jerk.
