Good post! I think a lot of people are grossly misinformed about meat consumption. I have one particular LJ friend who was raised on a farm and told me verbatim that a vegetarian diet is willingly choosing to live like a person in the third world ( ... )

Thanks for this incredibly detailed post. It's something I think about a lot because I teach environmental science and students often ask me why I'm not vegetarian or vegan. My goal (except right now as I try to churn through Thanksgiving leftovers) is to be vegetarian before dinner, which is inspired by Mark Bittmen's VB6 (vegan before 6pm) eating strategy. I hadn't thought at all about supplements though so thanks for getting me to think about it! Do you have any brands for supplements that you'd recommend?
