I think of my inner self as a garden; one that I own, but I share. I don't keep a fence around it, but instead there are two tall concentric hedges encircling it, with openings in each which do not overlap. This is such a beautiful analogy to describe all the facets of yourself, as in each aspect of yourself is a living, breathing, fluid thing. I had previously thought of the inner self as a house with many rooms. Your analogy has made me think on this. With a house, most things are non-living and can almost be construed as clutter. It can be lonely and compartmentalized, dusty and forgotten. With a garden, every aspect of it is life.
