Xena is the first same sex crush that I can remember having. I didn't recognise it as such at the time- I didn't really fully understand that I was into people other than dudes until I was about 20- but when I re-watched the series a few years ago it all came flooding back.

Xena and Buffy are my go-to shows when I'm feeling pissed off at the world and want to watch something that doesn't suck at representing women. Every episode passes Bechdel, and it's so soothing to watch a show like that. Both are a long way from perfect, especially with regards to race, but wow I love 90s TV and the roles women were allowed to have!
