Beautiful post.

The only place I'm going to disagree is, "Georgia". I spent last Sunday at Hartsfield-Jackson airport...no alcohol before noon? That's just not right. :-p

well, you can't really disagree in my belief in GA, but you don't have to share it of course ;-) The no-alcohol-sales-on-Sunday thing is in process for removal though, just btdubs :D

I was more ranting about not having a beer during my layover. The few times I've ventured away from the airport, I've always liked Georgia.

I love the things you are passionate about!

Giving is something that I think is really hard for people. In principle, I like to think of myself as a giving, selfless person. But in reality, I know that isn't true. I have never, not once, given any significant amount of money to a cause that I believe strongly in.

I suppose my point is that it is a wonderful thing to outline and put into words the things that one believes in, because then you can see where you aren't living in accordance with your beliefs.

Would you mind if I used this as a template for self-reflection and posted it to my journal?

Giving has always been pretty easy for me. Before I ever had a job or owned anything expensive I learned the concept of tithe: giving away a portion of what I get so that I can remind myself that I can't really own anything and that everything -- including the ability to earn money -- is a gift. I think it's more difficult to move into that idea (or a similar one) after you're used to thinking of money as a thing you own instead of something that passes through your hands. And it's definitely more difficult without the belief that gifts come back greater -- something I believe in very strongly. For me, giving is easy 'cause I think of it as trading x amount for 2x amount, with some time in between ;-)

Absolutely! I would love it if all my friends did a "13 things I believe in" post :D
