Wow. I only wish my older sisters could have been so happy to have me and my little sister in their lives at that age.
My little sis and I have a heck of a strange relationship but I love her fiercely and still try to protect her, admittedly from too much. We're a little strained now because a number of really crappy factors ended up with me having guardianship and sharing custody of her 16 month old son with our mom but I hope that at the other end of this tunnel we'll go back to what we had.
Your post and description of the evolving relationship between you makes me smile and feel all warm inside! You both are wonderful individuals. It is nice to see two sisters becoming best friends.
I believe one can be platonically "in love" because to me, being in love means wanting to learn everything about a person, to continually grow closer to them, to have them know you fully, and to be so fascinated by them that you could think on their wonderful qualities for a long time without getting bored.
