There seem to be at least four beings in your dream. You, Ben, a close male associate/friend, and a threatened or dismayed individual.

It all ought to be given a rest.

The threatened individual hurt Ben, then you. You believe the individual is "trouble", that his or her thought process must end.

"Saving" this individual is spiritual arrogance...

In doing so you feel you need to make repairs to your attitude of gaining spiritual enlightenment or wisdom in your life.

The close male friend or associate is also spiritually arrogant, perhaps more so...somehow thinking more spirituality is needed. But the "drowning" threatened individual needs to come up for spiritual air instead of being saturated with spiritual research. The threatened individual knows you understand this need and you help in that regard.

hm... I see my male bio-sibling as a very negative person, so I doubt he represents something positive, and I think that the cobra represents something positive, since that is a positive symbol to me.

It's your dream and you will have your own interpretation for sure. :) Ideally that's the best approach so long as it makes sense and communicates to you.

Typically a cobra represents a threatened or dismayed individual. (And the cobra did bite you and Ben and at first you wanted Ben to cut it's head off ( ... )
