OH MY GOSH! I LOVE her work! This is almost exactly how I always wished I could create, using vibrant colors with a different medium in black to create that striking contrast. I love it, I love it, I love it!
those are fantastic! i love the bold colors. you said "Her art reminds me of the way mine would be if I drew freely..." and makes me wonder why you don't! have you considered taking an art class?? those can be really helpful in helping people with opening up their strokes and going with it-- i was having a similar conversation with another lj buddy just yesterday ;)
I have definitely considered taking an art class, and looked up classes in the area. They were all pretty pricey but I may be able to afford them now, so I'll have to look again. I remember art classes in high school being amazingly inspirational even when the teacher didn't do much -- just having a set time where someone says "paint!" or "draw!" is very helpful. and having a nice place to work, too -- I can't work in the cold and I have to have sunlight, so where I live now that means I can only work when it is bright and warm out. :-p
