The Edhelekharo

Well, the Tallran won out, but they are descendents of both Edhelekharo and Feanen, so I'm going to explain those two races first.

questions: you said that they are the predecendants (is that a word? i'm sleepy.) of the Tallrans, with the Feanen. i assume that their heights are around the same? how do the life expectancies of the two races compare? also, how do their living areas compare: i somehow envision the Feanen as more of an outdoorsy type, since they live lives creating and tuning nature, so i suppose that it would be common sense. the Eds, i am thinking that since they strive on knowledge and preservation of that knowledge, plus lack of emotion, that their living quarters and buildings would be very stark, very angular and tall, yet have a breathtaking artsy take to it, like square spires reaching up to fantastic stars or curves or glimpses of shapes or emotion that they can't portray themselves?

and do you hate me for calling them "The Eds"?

Well, I would hate you for calling them-- that, but you're just too darn awesome. So I only hated you for a 3.2 seconds ( ... )

it sounds beautiful! *happy sigh*

and i can totally understand the Feanen living drastically shorter lives, being surrounded by stone, mortar, steel, etc., instead of their natural area... they live for the woods, the woods live for them.

well, it's also partially because they are usually in cities as a result of being sold as sex slaves, and since they are so fragile, if extreme caution is not used during sex with another race, the feanen will die. So generally they are sold as one-time-use slaves.

I can see why they would be fascinating and yet disgusting to write about. I also wonder if anyone else would ever know they were gentle and generous; the judgment would rule most interactions with other races, wouldn't it?

(as it is tradition for each person to create a new song every eleven days, to sing at the gathering)

That's an incredible pace to maintain. If someone couldn't create that often, or just didn't have enough musical talent, would he or she be shunned or exiled? Or are there allowances made, with this as the highest standard?

Well... the songs don't have to be that great or that long, they just have to be (snippets count). When you're as intelligent as they are, and you go through as much learning, it's really not that hard. It doesn't have to be inspired. Creating music, like poetry and any other art, is a discipline as well as a gift, and those who don't have inherent talent can still do something (why else do we have art classes in school? not every kid is an artist).
