Land of confusion

Last Friday in the Star, this opinion piece got me so riled up I immediately wrote up a response. It hasn't been picked up for a Letter to the Editor, and it just occurred to me to post it as a comment to the online version (duh).

Anyway, here's what I wrote:

Hear, hear.

I keep hearing people threaten to move overseas, not realizing that 1) no-one wants them; and 2) any country they would want to live in has much higher taxes, much more health care, tighter regulations on businesses and a lot less religion.

Then again, there's always China. I hear you can get melamine in your milk there...

Off-topic: If you were interested in IndyFringe, applications for next summer are now open. You being not-Indiana helps your odds, but it would be best to act as soon as you can.

Thank you! I think we're probably going to pass on it this year--I'd love to do a new Fringe, but it's right in the middle of our biggest Fringe all year, Edmonton :( But I'm checking out the DivaFest thing!

I think this was different than the Murdoch who was running for Senate, who, while his opinions I don't agree with, he was fairly consistent in them.

This commenter was just keeping up the intellectual dishonesty we've come to expect from most on the right.

With the positive turns gay marriage took in the election, and the way trends are going, it should be no big deal and "of course you can" in a few short years.
