I was watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent last night and couldn't help but notice that one of the ways they show that Detective Goran thinks differently is that he's left-handed (probably it's also that Vincent D'Onofrio is a lefty, but anyway...), and that reminded me of my LJ Idol entry a couple of weeks back in which I mentioned being a ( Read more... )

Technically, I can write with either hand, though my left-handed penmanship sucks. Also, when aiming for archery, I tend to use both eyes, when aiming a gun, I tend to use my right eye. Random weirdness. :)

I paint, draw and write with my right hand. I sculpt with my left. I eat with both hands. I CAN do all that other stuff with my left. But my dad's left handed and I didn't want to 'be like him' so used my right hand instead.
I also skateboarded 'goofy foot' Or with my right foot in the back of the board and and pushed with my left foot, which went in front when I wasn't pushing off.

When I was younger, teachers often tried to get me to write with my left hand, use lefty scissors, and then they'd have me write with my right hand, and use the not-green scissors. I attribute this confusion at an early age to my confusion when asked suddenly a question requiring a "right" or "left" answer. I can write with my left hand, and while legible, it won't win any penmanship awards. Eating left-handed is a bit easier, and I do so whenever I feel like it, or if I am seated next to a left-handed eater and do not wish to bump elbows constantly throughout a meal. Baseball was also another source of confusion, because different coaches had be batting on different sides of the plate. I think this is why I wasn't very good at baseball. (Though it was the one sport I actually TRIED to play in high school.)

My biological mother forced the right hand way of life on me with the end result being that I stuttered something awful. When I was put into foster care they realized that I would naturally try to grab with my left hand so they started to encourage the use of my left hand and my stuttering stopped ( ... )
