My original LJ username was "istenno" (the Hungarian word for "goddess", because I am not at all arrogant). I would have preferred this one, so when it became available again, I bought a rename token. I've used the name Wang Xi-feng online for almost 6 years now; none of the other pseudonyms I've used fit quite as well.
Wang Xi-feng is my favorite character in the classic Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber (available in English translation as The Story of the Stone). She's smart-mouthed, ambitious, crooked, and vindictive, all adjectives that have stuck to me (with greater or lesser reason, depending on who's flinging them). We differ in significant ways (I'm not canonically heterosexual, I'm literate, and I'm childfree), but she's a tough, capable woman in a male-dominated world. My epoch and culture are somewhat less male-dominated, but I feel for her.
It's also worth noting that Xi-feng's name can be a male name as well, like my nickname, and the slight gender ambiguity makes it all the more appealing to me.
I'd honestly really like to change this name and have been wanting to for awhile BUT I either am being very cheap or lazy. Kalire was a character I played on a MUD (Multi User Dungeon/Domain) RPG - of which several of my friends on eljay are from and at the time she was my primary character. At the time, just Kalire was taken so I added in the bluestar, mostly cause I love stars and I think I used it as a symbol for her.
If I could change it, I would be StargazerC or StargazerCC or something more appropriate for me.
I picked mine because a friend of mine gave it to me as a nickname and everyone thought it was so fitting, it just seemed like the thing to do. I'm pretty sure it'll wind up being the name of my business too.
I was originally going to pick a Morphine song "Cureforpain", but it was taken, as were the other Morhphine songs I tried. Then I went for Jesus and Mary Chain. Figured Halfwaytocrazy fit.
Mine's probably obvious. ;) My first name is Crystal, which means "clear, translucent"... I think I live up to it. I'm not any good at hiding things, and I don't like to. I like to be honest, I like people being honest with me... I like clarity.
