I'm on a Merlin Marathon. Like totally.

I haven't been doing much but watching the series, eating and sleeping during the weekend. oO (I did translate a section of Greek today, though, for the first time after six months and didn't suck royally at it!)

Anyway, I feel like the show's mostly good for entertainment, but anyway, it's fun watching, so ( Read more... )

I liked the first two seasons of Merlin, but the third season was a sort of downhill imo. The first two episodes were pretty good and also the last two were interesting and enjoyable, but the others were weird and just silly. I will watch the fourth season, though. Colin Morgan is a great actor and I hope to see him more on screen; Gaius is my favorite character (with Merlin)and Uther is just great, greatly evil ;) I find Gwen awful and so much older-looking than Arthur and the actress playing Morgana simply can't act, in my opinion...but funny show, I like it.

I'm only in the middle of season two, so I don't know about season three yet. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

I'm on the same page with you about Merlin, Gaius und Uther. Up til now I didn't even consider Uther really evil but I think his true self showed in The Witchfinder when he didn't do anything to save Gaius from being burned. (I see a parallel in the relationsshis Arthur-Merlin and Uther-Gaius and I could never imagine Arthur allowing Merlin to be executed, so that was pretty fail-y on Uther's part, imo)

Why don't you like Gwen? I think she and Arthur make a cute pair ... and I think that Katie McGrath/Morgana is a very beautiful woman, but surely not the best actress.

I find the actress playing Gwen just plain and I think she has no chemnistry with Arthur at all, and this is even more evident in season three, when they are supposed to be truly in love. She's far from my beauty standards but that's just me. Katie mcGrath in season three, when her character is supposed to become more "complex" is just inadeguate. But the show is very nice, I'm looking forward to see the new season...
