Nino led the way to Anne's shop from memory; it was almost as though he'd been frequenting the shop for ages, but he knew it was only that Anne was at the end. It didn't matter where she was now - Nino would always be able to find her. He swung Ohno's hand excitedly.
"It's weird how close we look," he said, "except she's not a bunch of bones like I am. She's really cute. Her wings are pink. They glitter," he added fondly.
Ohno was still a bit amazed that Nino had a sister. He'd gotten the story, sure, and understood it perfectly well, but the fact that she was here sort of floored Ohno.
He'd not really yet been prepared to meet Nino's family, to be perfectly honest. But Nino was excited and Anne sounded delightful. He squeezed back.
"Bunch of bones my ass, you look fantastic so don't even," he chided, sticking out his tongue at Nino. He squeezed the fay's hand again as they neared the shop. "Pink, hm? Yours shimmer really pretty, but I can definitely say they don't glitter."
Anne hustled. She could feel Nino approaching, along with his soul. Her brother's mate shone just a slight bit less brightly in her mind. Nino hadn't told her Ohno's species yet, but she could feel magic through him. It felt familiar, but at the same time different. She couldn't quite place it yet, but she was certain once she met him she'd be able to.
Confident the Yorkshire puddings were cooled enough, Anne transfered them to a small basket with a cloth to keep them warm and transfered them to the table along with the cottage pie. Next came a bottle of sweet red wine, uncorked to breathe. She fidgeted with her hands and made her way down the stairs to the shop to let them in.
"I should hope they don't glitter. They never did before - it would be weird if they started to now," Nino said. He laughed and wrinkled his nose. The shop came into view and Nino grew just a little more serious. "She, uh... she doesn't know anything about last week. I didn't want that to make a difference. So you don't have to say anything about it."
Anne would want to know what Ohno was, though. Nino pulled Ohno up to the door of the shop and knocked. "She promised Yorkshire pudding."
Finally remembering that he'd taken another pudding, Nino finished the last bites of his cottage pie quickly. He picked up the pudding and bit into it, chuckling at Ohno.
"Asking an Irish-woman if he can have seconds," Nino said, clucking his tongue, "Really, Satoshi." He looked between Ohno and Anne, smiling. "If our schedules align I'm sure we'd both want to go, but this one is starting filming soon. I on the other hand have predictable hours. I'm basically free after one in the afternoon."
Ohno was still a little flushed, but he dug happily into another full helping of the cottage pie. "Sorry, sorry. First Irish woman I remember meeting, at least that's fed me," Ohno amended, shoveling more pie into his face.
"I'll see how my filming schedule is, and we'll let you know. Kazu's better with the land animals. If you wanted fish or an otter or something, then I'd be the one to help pick," Ohno said with a laugh in between bites.
Anne giggled softly at Ohno's flush, making sure he took plenty of the cottage pie. "Filming? For what, may I ask?" She knew her brother worked at the coffee shop, but she had no idea what his mate did for a living. Not that it mattered of course, but she was curious.
Filming could be anything. He could be a director, actor, cameraman. Or he could be in porn. It was a complete possibility.
It was Ohno's achievement, getting the part, and Nino knew how happy Ohno was about it. He took a bite out of his pudding and sat back to let Ohno tell Anne what he was filming for.
