Kuroki Meisa - 11:00 am lol_dancess September 28 2010, 06:27:41 UTC
Meisa poked her head through Bluebell's door, wondering if Nino were around. Due to the erratic scheduling the attending had set up, Meisa was off this morning. She had decided on a whim to come to Bluebell for some brunch before work, never mind if it was out of the way ( ... )

Nino was clearing away several dishes from a recently occupied table when Meisa walked through the door. He wasn't facing her, but now that he'd tasted her presence once (it sounded an awkward way to say it but there just wasn't a better description), he'd never be able to forget it.

Her presence was smooth in the back of his mind. A little hesitant. She wasn't sure if he was there, Nino guessed. He settled the plates on his arms and turned around, offering his best smile and nodding into the open floor.

"Welcome. Take a seat anywhere - we're quite free."

Slightly lost in the thoughts, Meisa was startled when she heard Nino greet her. She smiled back at Nino. "Oh! Okay - thanks!"

Meisa picked a table that was slightly off to the side and out of the way. She didn't want to be in the way if a rush of people came in for lunch, and it also would allow for her to people watch if Nino didn't want to talk to her.

She was still unsure of exactly why Nino was wary of her, though she knew it was something to do with the magic she had done yesterday. Meisa wanted to clear things up between them and be at least on friendly terms with each other.

After looking at the menu and still not knowing what to order, Meisa decided to ask Nino what he recommended. She caught his eye and waved him over, "What do you recommend for brunch? I can't pick. The only thing I know I want is a coffee!"

"Coffee we have," Nino said. He offered a smile and leaned a little closer, the better to reach the menu with his pen. "If you're looking for a lighter breakfast the french toast is really good. Two sides work well, too, like a cup of oatmeal and fruit. For something more substantial, we have really nice smoked salmon. The omelette is also really nice."

Nino stepped back slightly. "Would you like your coffee now?"

Pinch wasn't heavy but he WAS an armful and not welcome on a rush-hour bus that was packed enough without the addition of a three-foot lobster. Misono didn't mind walking with him but by the time she was most of the way home she was exhausted.

"It's only because you've had surgery today that you're not walking," she told her plushie. She took a shortcute and spotted a pretty sign ahead. A cafe. "And you're going to have to pay me back for my latte."

She paused in the door, wondering if she was supposed to wait or just find a seat. "Hello!"

Since he'd worked full-time the entire morning shift and the lunch-and-early-dinner crowd was slow to come, Nino had been firmly set behind the counter for the start his second shift. Though he'd pouted a bit at Andy for show, Nino couldn't say he really minded. It was better than standing. His back was really starting to tell Nino exactly what it thought of him. It wasn't very flattering.

Andy had gone back into the office for a quick break, leaving Nino to handle things should the odd customer stray in.

And Misono came. She was bright and content as she came through the door - nothing like the lost uncertainty that Nino usually felt from her. Nino almost ducked behind the counter. But he was the one on the floor and Andy needed his five as much as anyone, so he steeled himself, put on a smile, and picked up a menu.

"Welcome to Bluebell."

Misono automatically turned a smile at the voice that welcomed her until she really heard it. Heard him. That home-wrecking English fay.

"You." She acted purely on instinct. She flung Pinch at him and doged sideways to grab a shaker of salt off a nearby table. Her hands fumbled as she picked it up but her OTHER hands were steady and had the top off in a second.

She threw the contents at his face, turned, and fled.

Luckily, the giant red lobster was a good shield against the on-coming salt. Not that salt did a whole lot of good against Fay; it still stung if it got in the eyes, and having Pinch in front of his face kept that from happening.

Nino watched Misono flee. He chewed the inside of his cheek, clearing away the salt with a flick of his fingers. When it was gone and a new one refilled and put on the table, Nino sat.

He held the lobster against his chest and pressed his face into the fabric - careful to avoid the surgical wounds on his back. Misono'd want him back. Nino just didn't know how to get him to her.
