I don't really think there's anything to suggest that Nina will play a bigger part than she did in series 2. She's living with them now - well, she was at the end of series 1, so nothing much has changed.

"I feel like the crew doesn't understand what made Being Human better than the sum of it's parts and are now hitting a downward spiral where instead of developing characters they just throw more drama at their current forms and watch them squirm until they lose their funding."

For Annie, I think this is development. We've had 1 series about her coming to terms with her death, another about her coming to terms with being dead.. crossing over is the natural step, surely? Now she has to tackle the men with sticks and rope, which is a theme I'm personally quite eager to know more about.

but probably if you've been watching it for one character and one character only then it's time to stop watching anyway :)

So what would you do... marusya_56 March 1 2010, 09:34:09 UTC
If you were the writer, where would you lead the characters?
I'm not trying to be difficult, but you didn't seem to like anything that happened to anyone in season 2.
I've noticed this sort of thing with a couple of other fandoms I follow, after the first season, ppl say that they were so disappointed, the 2nd season just didn't live up to the first, etc. But you have to move forward or back, otherwise you might as well watch the season 1 DVD over and over.
FWIW, I don't think Nina is a replacement for Annie. However I do think her character serves a purpose, even if it's just to create more stress and upheaval for George and the household. On top of that, because of Nina, we got to see some incredible acting from Mr. Tovey!

The start of Season 2 was good it stayed strong until the last 2 or 3 episodes and then it just felt.. meh.

Annie was always the 3rd character, which was fine. But in being the 4th character (as Nina will get more attention then Annie in the current situation) just seems poorly planned.

But that shouldn't be a character. She should not be "The person who makes trouble", she should be her own character and she just isn't, that's why I feel Season 3 is going to be a bad season when 1/3rd (1/4th maybe) of the main characters are just drama whores.

Except that a) the point of the show is about a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire and if you actually watched the ending Mitchell swore to get her back.

I'm extremely excited to see Season three, but feel free to skip Season 3 if you're judging it without seeing an episode, a script or even the smallest little spoiler.

This. You put it so much more succinctly than I could have. Mitchell vowed to get her back, and George didn't argue.

I can't WAIT for season 3 and, not only that, but I don't see where Annie has ever been "Character no.3" in terms of importance, let alone no.4.

Being Human is one of the few TV shows that have consistently strong, funny female characters, primary and secondary, and if you only watch for Annie then you're missing out on a lot. Annie, Nina and Daisy are superbly written and I enjoy every second of their screen time. If you don't like that then you probably should stop watching.

Series two was all about the huge bond of friendship between Annie, George and Mitchell and obviously season three will be about getting Annie back. I, for one, am desperately looking forward to it.

Will I watch season 3 on the basis of how season 2 ended...?

Oh course I will! It's wonderful stuff, and I wouldn't miss it for the world. *g*
