Tragedy Strikes

I'm sorry to report that our beloved coffeemaker died this morning. RIP, my friend, RIP! The distinct lack of caffeinated beverages in our house meant that I had to stop at the Big Gay Bagel Shop to get my precious (yesssssss precioussss, we needs it, yesss) coffee. I also picked up a salt bagel with cream cheese and cucumber. Mmmmm, mmmmm, I ( Read more... )

Ohhhh...it's a sad day in the gothicfemme household! We have a grind-n-brew coffee maker too, and we love it dearly.

Do you have the same Melitta one or a different brand? I'm trying to decide what to buy next. I'm really attached to the grinding feature on ours and want something similar (or possibly identical).

Nope, ours is like this: http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1385895&cp=1331607.1331947.1672335&parentPage=family but black, not stainless steel. And I don't remember it costing $150 either. We got it at Linens N Things. I love that we can set it up and set the timer and it will make new freshly-ground coffee for us. I also really like that it has a build-in filter for the water.

noooooooooooo!!!

tragedy indeed. but i'll bet it's fun looking at replacements, though -- i've had my current coffeemaker for...wow, for like ten years. it's been great, but i am already salivating at the prospect of an update. mmmm...automatic timers...built-in grinders...water filtration systems...mmmm...

I'd put down good money to have something that had an automatic timer AND a built-in grinder AND a water filtration system. What I've seen so far, you usually get only 2 out of the 3 on any given machine. Jesus, when did become such a yuppie?! Honestly, I hope that I'm not really a yuppie, but sometimes it feels like it. I feel dirty.

I'm not sure this really qualifies as a yuppie thing - I think this falls more into the lazy in the morning thing. And we're both guilty there!
