Here is a list of my recommendations for The Eagle. Most recs are for the film 'verse, but some have ties to the book. Organized alphabetically by pairing; some with my notes, some without.

Down On His Knees by lallyloo - RATING: NC-17 WORD COUNT: 12,926 SUMMARY: "A glory hole AU. Marcus and Esca have a series of encounters at a gay club. Marcus is too shy and embarrassed to ask for what he really wants - to be someone's bottom - but the anonymity of the glory hole allows him to fulfill his fantasy. Esca is all too willing to give Marcus what he wants and needs. (Alternating POV throughout the story)" MY NOTES: I'm not typically into Modern Day-AUs nor glory hole fics, but for some reason this one just works for me.
Hetaeriae Eaeque Brevi Fient by Sineala - RATING: NC-17 WORD COUNT: 13,584 SUMMARY: "After the return of the Eagle, Rome is not done with Marcus Aquila. He and Esca are persuaded to infiltrate a group of potential conspirators -- possibly-traitorous men about whom there are yet other shameful rumors, stories of debauchery and vice. What do they get up to at their dinner-parties? To find out the truth, Marcus and Esca must pretend to be lovers, but it is a difficult thing to pretend to be what Marcus so badly wishes they could be in truth. (Or: Marcus and Esca go undercover as gay at an orgy.)"
The Persistence of Memory by savvierthanu - RATING: NC-17 WORD COUNT: 12,257 SUMMARY: "Esca loses his memory. Marcus tries to help him get it back."
The Road Home by Liketheriver - RATING: R WORD COUNT: 37,873 SUMMARY: "Missing scenes between the final battle with the Seal People and the return of the eagle (because there was a lot that must have happened off screen.) Also, I couldn't help but notice Esca was injured in that final battle."
