It sucks about the trip, but they're offering it for either fall semester, spring semester, or both for the next three years. I'll warn you, though, only two people get in for fall/spring and one gets in for the whole year.
As for the conflicting dreams, they're your dreams and I can't really advise you on them. I will say, though, that college is generally regarded as a time to Try All The Things.

I was thinking about doing a summer program. Though, after meeting with a counselor in my department, I think I can do England and three years after all, I'll have to see what I can make work with England, but maybe I can do it.That makes Japan a little smaller priority.
