What exactly does being a beta reader entail? I've always wondered, but don't have anyone to ask. Mind giving a crash course?

Being a beta reader pretty much means that I would read over a finished chapter or one short, looking for spelling, punctuation, and other little errors. It's kinda like having someone re-read your finished writing to make sure everything's okay!

sounds cool. It would certainly be really good practice.

It really is. It exposes the beta reader to different writing styles and helps them expand on their own styles of writing.
