I was having a lot of issues with tumblr as well. Not sure why since it was a simple copy/paste out of Word `08 for Mac. It seemed to sort itself out when I changed it from a .docx to a .doc.

I always had to change .doc to .docx when I had Word. I use LibreOffice now, and haven't run into that old file format weirdness, although copy-paste still gets fux0red.

I tend to use OpenOffice, but for whatever reason the spellcheck doesn't work on my Mac.
