A New Standard for “Epic” Set in a Formerly Colored Room

This past Saturday, Cap&Hare members The Wedge and Larry-to-the-K put on a beer tasting that bordered on life changing. Though I skipped beers I’d had before, this tested my palette’s endurance.

The Wedge: i still can't believe the quality and quantity and diversity of all the beers we had show up.

Assurbanipaul: Does that count as a beer orgy? Will ( Read more... )

Foster's: the swill we sell to the rest of the world because it's "funny". It's shameful that the rest of the world think that Aussies have such horrendous taste in beer.

Then again, the only American beer most people know is Bud...

Very true. Every country has better beers than the most popular/advertised one. The word just needs to get out.

That's what everyone was saying, no limits were set and I think a few people were behind on drinking their acquisitions so...beer orgy.

YOu got some Surly's on that table!!! I see good ol' Furious, plus Coffee Bender which I haven't had. Don't see Cynic there though, and that's the favorite in this house.

There's a secret agent in Dallas working on bring some samples.

Cynic -Slovenian hops provide the floral, apricot and peach notes, sounds awesome. Have you had Magic Hat #9? Similar kind of thing - Three Floyd's Dreadnought is like this too. Great for hot weather.

Are you as amused as I am that you get more responses in your journal than the beer community? You've chosen your friend well apparently.

I was underwhelmed by BORIS. I made a short trip to grab some beers I can't get here and picked up two of them. I still have one laying around.

Regular Samiclaus is delicious. Haven't had the Helles.

I was at a rare beer tasting and they had the Sonoran 100, but for the price they were charging it just didn't interest me enough to give it a shot (literally, shots of it).

I really want to score some Surly.

I think the beers LJ group is almost dead. I post there to see if it stirs up anything. Diminishing returns.

Samichlaus Helles is a tad mellower than the regular but is still 14%. Solid brew.

Be glad you didn't have the Sonoran 100, this was NASTY. This was the only circumstance I would've had it - free and in a small portion.

MN folks are lucky, Surly's good and comes in talls. See the clip.

I see the bottle of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, did you try it? It's one of my favorites.
