I had a friend who had a serious drug problem. Its hard to talk to them about it because they get seriously defensive. My person did.She started talking about me behind my back, looking for someone to side with her. The person was no friend at all. Eventually the person became ill and I made sure to let her know that I was there for her and that I forgave her. Sometimes people can change so much when they have a problem and it can make you extremely angry, or it made me angry anyway. I say just keep some distance but still be friendly and let them know that they have someone to talk to. My person eventually apologized and we are now friends again. This is Melody, by the way. Haha. I don't know the situation, but I thought that story might help. Oh and I'm about 85% sure I'm transfering.

this all hits so close to home. but narcotics especially loritabs are so addictive and soon it becomes more of a physical dependency with physical withrawl symptoms and if it gets that bad its no good. and although they are so addictive usually if he is taking pain killers, smoking and drinking all the time he is just avoiding being sober and that is a whole other problem involving depression and what not. the shittiest thing about situations like this is they will get defensive or they will say "im addicted and i dont care." but it affects everyone and every part of their life, not just them so they should care ( ... )

Thanks so much for telling me about that. anything helps to hear from other people's perspectives. The worst part is that the only reason its gotten so out of control is that he had a really bad knee injury and got prescribed loritabs. after the injury, he was in so much pain that he was taking extra and then he would still be hurting so he smoked weed one day and realized how that helped the pain too. the school year's almost over and I know that he is going to go back home where he can get weed even easier, but the thing is that hes going to be getting the surgery for his knee this summer and theyre just going to prescribe him even more loritabs. before all this stuff with his knee, he wasnt anything like this. its amazing how quickly it just pulled him down.

Im really happy to know you were able to pull yourself out of it. Thanks again.
