Coraline had been missing for five days, now, and Adam and Angie had been camping out and looking for her for nearly as long. Adam had the note that she'd left him stuffed in his pocket. The jungle wasn't like the desert. You had to climb over foliage and the humidity was like death, but all the same it reminded Angela of the last time she had gone searching for someone. She was trying to listen, to the jungle, but all she heard was rustling leaves and insect noises. That was comforting, but not an answer.

She opened her eyes when Adam returned and gave him a small, warm smile. "Definitely not. I chose to come."

Even sweaty, even having been out in the jungle for four days, Angie was beautiful and Adam paused in putting a fire together to look up at her. He could smell himself, not unpleasant, not exactly, but getting in that direction.

"Just stay on that side of the fire," he said, managing a smile. "If you come anywhere near me, you're not going to like me as much."

Her laugh was hushed and quiet. The dark jungle around them didn't lend to raucousness, and their reason for being out that far and that late wasn't funny at all.

"It'll be an awfully cold night for me, in that case," she said with a little pout.

Adam bent his head to get the fire going, and then moved to Angie's side of the fire, wrapping his arm around her and bending to brush his lips against hers, barely a kiss, just a gentle brush of lips.

"If you can put up with the smell, I'll keep you warm, Angie."
