One of my favorite art challenges, if I do say so myself, is the
MatchMaker Challenge at the
quicky_bang (which is still running, by the way!). I chose a Speed Date, which meant I got to pick one of three surprise fics to make art for within a week.
I may have taken an extra day for finishing touches, but other than that, I followed the rules. After I read the story, I went with the first visual that came into my head, struggled for a while to avoid procrastination and dove into my arts & crafts corner. Here's the result!

The Making Of
First quick pensketch and set up in pencil.
To save time I don't make a cutting template, but put the coloured paper behind the pencil sketch and cut!
Details are cut freehand with a knife or tiny scissors.
I experimented with coloured pencils, but eventually decided to go for pure papercutting.
Zombies are getting along nicely.
I altered lady zombie's mouth for a more dramatic growl. The background of the sunset was inspired by this old Camel ad I came across when I went through my paper- and texture collection:)
Before cutting the guys I make a more precise sketch. Then I start with Jared and his pink shirt.
Haha, good thing I do these checks in between: that pink doesn't work with my sunset stripes. A darker pink it is then.
Oh no, Jared lost his head and where is Jensen's arm??
Almost forgot that Jensen has got Jared's small backpack. Now they are complete:)
Time for the photoshoot. The light coming from above gives the best shading effect.
Tadaah!

For references I used a screenshot of Supernatural (height difference, Jensen's bowlegs;) and I found a photo of several arms around shoulders on top of a list of charitable companies at
GoBanking, which they credited to Rawpixel.com / Shutterstock.com.
I based the point of view and the upclose zombiesize on a screenshot of Resident Evil 2 (the shoot up game).

Thank you,
wind_storms for offering your cool J2 story in the
quicky_bang, I got so nervous during that intense zombie fight!
