Ridiculously long list of bookreviews

Ever since meeting on my brother's birthday years ago and discovering we had similar tastes, I've been mailing about books, films and music with Jelle. Over time these e-letters became huge, so recently we both agreed to try to keep our reviews as to the point as possible;-) Here's my first effort for the books I read in January and February. So many books, wheee! I definitely need to check out those Unwind/Unstrung books, as well as Maurice (obviously it's the only Forster book I don't own *sigh*). But AFTER paper writing season, haha! First I need to buckle down.

So here's the rec I have for you: 84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff (usually in one volume with the sequel, The Duchess Of Bloomsbury Street). The former is a series of letters between Hanff when she was a poor female writer in New York and an employee at an antique book shop in London (lasting from 1949 to 1969) and the sequel is her diary from when she finally got to visit London. It's basically a love letter to London and literature and it made me cry and laugh a lot. Read it! :)

Heehee! Don't you go checking them out before your birthday though. *Someone* may get you a book :-p I have not read Forster before, except for that scifi story mentioned. Of course I do know of all the tv-series/films made out of his books:) We should also try to get our hands on a copy of the filmversion of Maurice. (Maybe I already have it somewhere, will check!)

I'm putting your rec on my shopping list for London. Until then I'm sticking to my budget to save money for trip to Oz. Fortunately I have a sufficient bookpile to distract me until then;)

I will bring you the book when we go to London :D! And I have a lot of his books but I haven't even read half of them. So many books, so little tiiiiime!

And ha, that's not going to be a problem, I'm not allowed to buy any more books until Boekenfestijn (May 25) ;). *grins*
