Originally Tan and I had wanted to travel to the UK as usual: by Eurostar train to London. Due to a national strike in Belgium, we had to find another way to cross the channel. The curly text on the ground infront of the Norwegian Church: "den norske sjømann er et gjennombarket folkeferd" means something like "The Norwegian sailor is of tough people"
The Norwegian Church (in Norwegian: Sjømanskirken or "sailors church" - later called Den Norske Kirke i utlandet "The Norwegian church abroad" was originally founded to be at service for the many norwegian sailors constantly traveling the sea. So it has always been kind of a protector for Norwegian sailors.
The Song "The Norwegian Sailor", where this text it taken from, was written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (the founder of the National Theatre, and writer of our national Anthem), and the melody is by the Norwegian componist Edvard Grieg.

We didn't linger too long in the bay area though, because it was wet and freezing! (But we still managed to get some satisfying -not creepy!- Torchwood fangirling done;)
