UK-trip, Day 1: Amsterdam-Bristol-Cardiff

Originally Tan and I had wanted to travel to the UK as usual: by Eurostar train to London. Due to a national strike in Belgium, we had to find another way to cross the channel. Luckily we managed to buy cheap plane tickets from Amsterdam straight to our destination Bristol, where Panic! at the Disco would perform on Tuesday, January 31

I had a moment (or two) with that Lemon Blizzard. And I thought nothing could top that meat I had:) The first day was so amazing already and we still had the rest of the week to go!

We still need to climb up that old castle! And try other food at Harvester! And find that damn Torchwood Tower!

The curly text on the ground infront of the Norwegian Church: "den norske sjømann er et gjennombarket folkeferd" means something like "The Norwegian sailor is of tough people"

The Norwegian Church (in Norwegian: Sjømanskirken or "sailors church" - later called Den Norske Kirke i utlandet "The Norwegian church abroad" was originally founded to be at service for the many norwegian sailors constantly traveling the sea. So it has always been kind of a protector for Norwegian sailors.

The Song "The Norwegian Sailor", where this text it taken from, was written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (the founder of the National Theatre, and writer of our national Anthem), and the melody is by the Norwegian componist Edvard Grieg.

Thank you! I'd hoped you would be able to read it:) You know I put that picture up especially for you, right? Because I remembered how you noticed the church in the pictures from 2008;) This time I also made a photo of the side-entrance of the church, it has a sign on the wall, but sadly that isn't readable. I know Tan made a photo that has the whole church in it. (her pictures are so much better than mine *sighs*)
We didn't linger too long in the bay area though, because it was wet and freezing! (But we still managed to get some satisfying -not creepy!- Torchwood fangirling done;)

Hee- when you told you were going to Cardiff, I wanted to ask you to take a picture of yourself infront of the Norwegian church.... but then I thought I was just being stupid. LOL I am so happy you thought of putting this picture up for me :-)
